Double-Coated Abrasive PSA Tapes

At Magnum Tapes & Films, manufacturing high-quality pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes is one of our specialties. These materials are sticky on one or both sides, providing maximum placement flexibility. They rely on applying pressure to adhere to surfaces instead of solvents, heat, or water.

These tapes are easy to apply and bond with smooth or rough surfaces. Because they require minimal external energy to promote adhesion, they can also help reduce a company's utility expenses. Some PSA tapes are available in several attractive colors to enhance the substrate's aesthetic appeal.

Abrasive PSA Tapes

One common PSA tape application is mounting the abrasive discs used for sanding, cutting, roughing, and similar applications. The design of these tapes ensures that the discs will remain in place and perform well during these demanding work processes.

These products are available in two configurations:

• Rubber-based abrasive tapes: These tapes are the most cost-effective adhesive solution for temporary applications. They feature a high initial tack, making them the best choice when working with rough-textured materials. However, rubber tapes offer minimal resistance to extreme heat and chemicals.
• Acrylic-based abrasive tapes: These adhesive systems bond more slowly over time, offering enhanced temperature and chemical resistance. They also have low levels of volatile organic compounds, contributing to healthier indoor air quality.

Double-Coated Abrasive Tape From Magnum Tapes & Films

We offer double-coated abrasive tape, which features PSA on both sides. Our 400 Series consists of these standard tapes:

• R-435: This rubber-based abrasive tape offers good dimensional stability and exceptional die-cutting performance—the material bonds well with various materials, including polypropylene, metal, and EDPM rubber.
• R-442: This material offers all the properties of R-435 but includes an additional air-side adhesive for use with paper abrasive pads. Consider this tape if you're seeking the ideal blend of excellent performance and low cost.
• R-449: The R449 is an ideal choice for rougher surface applications due to the thicker glue coating. This rubber tape also provides reliable shear and peel performance.

R-442 PDF	60# SCK	1.1 mil 400 Series	0.5 mil Clear PET	1.3 mil 400 Series	Versatile permanent rubber tape. It is ideal for smooth surfaces where heavy adhesive thickness is not required. Good balance of economy and performance. Excellent bonding to polyethylene, polyisoprene, polystyrene, polypropylene, EPDM, metals, papers, and other flat surfaces. Good dimensional stability with excellent die-cutting performance. Very high shear properties and high peel performance with good temperature resistance. The additional airside adhesive makes it ideal for paper-abrasive pad applications.
R-449 PDF	60# SCK	2.1 mil 400 Series	0.5 mil Clear PET	1.2 mil 400 Series	Permanent pressure-sensitive double-coated general-purpose rubber tape with excellent peel and shear performance. Airside provides a thicker glue coating for rougher surface applications. Typically used for bonding to paper, metal, EPDM, polyisoprene, plastics, abrasive pads, and most low- or unplasticized substrates. The polyester carrier provides excellent dimensional stability for die-cutting applications.

Magnum Tape & Films is also your headquarters for double-coated differential abrasive tape with different adhesives on each side. The available products in our 900 Series include:

• D-902: This differential tape has an air-side adhesive designed to bond with closed-cell foams such as EDPM and polyurethane. The liner side contains a general-use adhesive material.
• D-943: Both sides of this tape have an aggressive rubber-based PSA. The liner side has a general-purpose material that bonds with multiple substrates. The air side offers excellent adhesion with polyurethane and polyethylene foams.

D-943 PDF	76# PCK	1.2 mil 400 Series	0.5 mil Clear PET	3.0 mil 300 Series	Differential, self-wound, double-coated polyester film on a 76# poly-coated kraft paper liner. The film is coated on both sides with an aggressive, permanent rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive. The liner side is coated with our general-purpose rubber adhesive, which bonds to a wide variety of substrates. The air side is coated with an aggressive rubber adhesive that bonds well to polyethylene and polyurethane foams.
