Polypropylene Paper

Polypropylene is an effective option if you require a durable and dependable pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) film for your adhesive-backed film products. Polypropylene adhesive film rolls exhibit many favorable properties, making them popular across numerous industrial and commercial markets and applications.

You can find polypropylene printable PSA papers for your unique application needs at Magnum Tapes & Films®. We set ourselves apart from the competition by delivering customer-oriented solutions that offer exceptional value.

What Is Polypropylene Film?

Polypropylene is a tough, rigid thermoplastic with low moisture vapor permeability and high chemical resistance. It has the lowest density of all standard plastics, making it lighter than other materials. Polypropylene is known for its high gloss, clarity, and tensile strength.

Polypropylene film has physical and dielectric properties, making it useful in electrical insulation applications. This robust PSA film resists high temperatures, moisture, and solvents and is not prone to tearing. As a result, it is suitable for outdoor applications. Adhesive polypropylene film rolls can adhere to many materials, including glass, boards, and magnetic media.

Types of Polypropylene Film

Two primary types of polypropylene film are cast polypropylene (CPP) and biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP). These materials differ in their characteristics as well as their manufacturing processes.

Cast Polypropylene Film
CPP is a flat extrusion film known for its versatility. This material exhibits high gloss, rigidity, and transparency and is resistant to moisture and heat. Cast polypropylene film is non-toxic, tasteless, and odorless and has high tear, puncture, and impact resistance.

Cast polypropylene film has emerged as a popular choice in traditional and nontraditional packaging due to its easy sealing and excellent heat seal strength. For example, CPP film is often used for packaging food, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and documents in stand-up bags, side-welded seal bags, and confectionary twist wraps.

Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene Film
When manufactured, BOPP film is stretched in longitudinal and transverse directions using a cross-directional technique. As a result, it produces molecular chain orientation in two directions, increasing its hardness and tensile strength. This polypropylene film also boasts high impact strength, low elongation, and transparency, and it has good optical properties, low haze, and reliable gas and vapor barrier properties.

BOPP film has many practical commercial applications. It is widely used as a flexible packaging material and is an excellent alternative to wax paper, cellophane, and aluminum foil. Other typical applications of BOPP film include electrical applications, lamination, printing, extrusion coating, adhesive tapes, and pressure-sensitive tapes.

Advantages of Using Polypropylene PSA Film

When you purchase polypropylene film for your adhesive-backed film products, you'll experience several benefits, such as:

Environmental Friendliness
Polypropylene poses no health or safety concerns, as it is non-toxic and does not produce harmful byproducts, making it safe for humans and the environment. This film is also fully recyclable and can be reprocessed into many products, like automotive battery cases, brushes, and signal lights.

Durability
Polypropylene adhesive film rolls have many robust properties with exceptional hardness and scratch, fracture, and impact resistance. Printable PSA papers can also withstand environmental stress and cracking.

Another of polypropylene's impressive properties is its high heat resistance, which is better than polyethylene film. Polypropylene film can endure continuous use in temperatures between 230 and 248 degrees Fahrenheit.

Polypropylene printable PSA papers are also resistant to many chemicals, such as organic solvents like alkalis, alcohols, bases, and diluted and concentrated acids. In addition, they resist the effects of esters, ketones, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and aldehydes.

Performance
Polypropylene paper exhibits reliable performance under many environmental conditions. This material retains its electrical and mechanical properties in humid environments, high temperatures, and when submerged in water. Polypropylene is also highly flexible, allowing it to bend and contort without breaking.

Longevity
Because polypropylene protective film is so robust, it can outlast other films. This product's adhesive stability prevents it from falling off surfaces, warping, or blistering after sticking to a product. As a result, you can expect your adhesive-backed products to last.

Availability
Polypropylene is readily available for consumption, making it an easily accessible resource. This material is also relatively inexpensive, meaning you can stay within your budget while maintaining superior product quality.
